Launching a coin

The form, the trading fee, the launch options and what happens on-chain.

Launching is one form on the Launch page: a picture, a name, a ticker, an optional description and links, and two optional settings. Then one button, Launch on Stoke.

The form

FieldRules
PictureRequired. Hosted with the coin's metadata.
NameUp to 32 characters.
TickerUp to 10 letters and numbers.
Description, linksOptional: website, X, Telegram.
Dev buyOptional, 0 to 50 SOL. Default 0.5 SOL.
Trading fee0.25% to 2.5%. Default 1%. Fixed at launch.

The metadata is written to the coin's mint and can't be changed after launch. Check it before you sign.

Dev buy

The dev buy goes in the launch transaction itself, so nobody can buy before you, and the anti-snipe tax doesn't apply to it. It pays the coin's normal fee. The tokens it buys become your fee-free allowance: your sells pay no fee until you've sold that many. A 50 SOL dev buy gets about a fifth of the supply.

Anti-snipe, on every coin

Bots try to buy in the same block a coin launches, block 0, before anyone else can see it. On Stoke, every buy in a coin's first 3 blocks (about 1.2 seconds) pays a 90% tax on top of the fee. The tax isn't paid to anyone, the creator included: it buys tokens from the curve, and those tokens are burned. A sniper keeps about a tenth of what their SOL bought, so sniping block 0 loses money.

It's the same for every coin and there's nothing to set. Your dev buy is exempt because it's in the launch transaction itself. After the first second, nobody pays it.

The copy check

Before you launch, Stoke looks for live coins with the same ticker, name or picture. A match only counts against a coin with traction: at least $10K of market cap, and at least a quarter of yours. You can still launch over a match, but your coin is labelled a copy on every page and hidden by the feed's red-flag filter. See Safety.

What happens on-chain

Your wallet signs two transactions:

  1. 1
    Create the token
A Token-2022 mint with the name, ticker and metadata link written on the mint itself, then made immutable. The mint's key is generated in your browser and never sent to the server.
  2. 2
    Launch (and dev buy)
Pays the 0.03 SOL launch fee, mints all 1,000,000,000 tokens into the coin's pool, switches minting off for good, creates the pool at its graduation price with the Stoke hook, and runs your dev buy.
What it costs
The 0.03 SOL launch fee, a little rent for the new accounts, network fees, and your dev buy if you make one. After that, Stoke's only income from your coin is 10% of its trading fee.
